Will using compatible HP laser toner damage my printer?
As more and more businesses are considering making the move to using compatible HP laser toner it appears there is still some doubts about the quality of the compatible printer toner and if the printer will still be viable after using the toner. Itās true that in recent years there may have been some dubious laser toners on the market, maybe poor quality toners manufactured in the Far East but nowadays the quality assurance is there for all good quality toners. All good quality toner cartridges are manufactured to the same ISO standards as the original brand and in most cases are filled to capacity with toner. This means that the compatible toner cartridge will print more pages than the original brand (the original brand toners are just not filled to the top!).
The main difference between the original brand and compatible brand of toner is the price, in some cases it is possible to save up to 600% for a set of four toner cartridges! The savings to a busy office or home user are immense and this is a saving not to be taken lightly. The evidence is in the price per page that it will cost to print your document. A simple calculation of the number of pages the toner should print (always calculated at 5% coverage which is really an A4 page of text with double line spacing) divided into the cost of the toner.
All good online suppliers of HP laser toner in Ireland will offer a money-back guarantee with all their products ensuring there is no risk to the buyer. It is our experience that apart from a few faulty āchipsā on the toners, there is really no reason why the toner should not work perfectly in the HP laser printer. The one exception is for printing large volumes of sticky labels, some of the compatible toners may not adhere to the label material and not print correctly, if this is the case you should certainly discuss it with your toner supplier before you make the purchase.
Itās very likely that when you make the switch to compatible HP laser toner you will not revert to the original HP brand especially when you see the results and in most cases there is no difference. If the color saturation in your document is of great importance to you, check with your supplier to see if this will be an issue for you before you buy. All in all, there is no downside to using compatible laser toner and any negative feedback is usually far outweighed by positive savings on money and extra pages printed.

Best Value OKI Laser Toner Cartridges with Money-Back Guarantee
OKI laser printers are among the most populars, now situ in many offices across Ireland, known for their reliability and productivity. After the initial purchase price of the printer the next thing to consider is the running cost. Laser printers, once reserved for only the busiest office have certainly come down in price and are used by the busy home user as well as in the workplace. The biggest advantage of the OKI laser toner printer over an inkjet printer is the low overall running costs, precise text print and its wonderfully fast print speeds. The inkjet printers are however, excellent for reproducing photographic prints.
For example, the OKI C321DN is a relatively low cost colour laser unit that uses printer toner. Itās a basic level printer with no multi-functions to speak of, (available online for around ā¬180), but is ideal for the small business or home. Of course it depends what you are looking for in a printer; if you require duplex or a faster print out speed then you may opt for a high specific laser toner printer or switch to another brand such as Xerox or Hewlett Packard. Brother’s HL 4150CDN printer is also in the same category as the Oki as an alternative but while the text print quality is superior the image reproduction can be less than satisfactory. This has nothing to do with the quality of the printer toner, purely the specification of the printer.
The OKI C321DN printer is an A4 size printer and is network or USB connected (no WiFi available on this printer), it has a good size paper tray that will hold up to 250 sheets and is also compatible with Windows and Mac. The printer uses four colour laser toner cartridges, black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Now here is the real cost effectiveness comes into play, if you opt to run the printer on compatible printer toners as opposed to the original brand OKI toner then you will make great savings on the running of the printer. The OKI C321DN black toner can produce 2200 A4 pages @ 5% coverage and the colour toners 1500 pages each at the same 5% coverage.
The OKI C321DN can produce up to 22 pages per minute in black and white and 20 pages per minute in colour. It also comes with an ECO mode that will adjust the printerās power consumption in an effort to reduce the printerās carbon footprint. Finally, a good quality compatible OKI laser toner can save up to 100% on your toner bill and when you buy with a money-back satisfaction guarantee there is no real risk to the consumer.

How to print direct from your iPhone
It’s useful to be able to print pictures, emails or boarding passes direct from your iPhone without the need to be next to a printer. It’s really straight forward and should be achievable with little more than a few taps on your iPhone.
- Check your printer is AirPrint compatible. You obviously need to have a printer that supports AirPrint (most newer printers do) before you can use the method. All the leading brands such as Brother, Epson, Samsung, HP, Lexmark, Canon and Dell sell AirPrint enabled printers and itās likely you would also require an iPhone 3G or later. If you are unsure about your printers AirPrint capability, the instruction manual of printer will advise you of this. If your printer is not AirPrint compatible you can still use the facility providing that you have access to an AirPrint supported printer, maybe in the office or workplace.
- Set up your printer for AirPrint. If your printer has AirPrint built in then itās likely that it will automatically connect with AirPrint. Check in the operating manual if you need to adjust the printer settings for your printer to use AirPrint and importantly check that your printer is on the same Wi-Fi as your iPhone.
Steps to Connect and Print from iPhone via AirPrint App
- Open the app for Airprint on your iPhone. Open the AirPrint app on your iPhone after first downloading it. Applications from Apple that are compatible with you phone include Mail and iPhoto meaning you can print emails and images.
- Open the file that you wish to print, choose ‘share’ and then ‘print’. Once you click ‘share’ a menu will appear that will allow you to choose an option to send the item by text, email or to print. Select ‘print’, then tap the arrow at the bottom pointing left and tap print.
- Selecting your printer. After you tap print a choice of printers will appear on the screen for you to open. Choose the printer you wish to sue (AirPrint compatible of course), type in the number of pages you want to print and the number of copies you would like. You can also change any printer settings you would want as you can when selecting a printer normally.
- Press Print. Finally, press print to print the actual document and the printer will respond and your documents will be printed as normal.
The apps you require for your phone to enable printing from your iPhone or mobile device are all readily available from your iTunes store. For example itās possible to download a particular app to suit your brand of printer. However some apps such as the HP printing app will only work with a HP networked printer.
Top Tip. Always remember to save money when using Airprint by using a good high quality compatible toner cartridges. Good quality compatible inks mean no compromise on quality and big savings on print ink.

How to Overcome the Problem of Poor Quality Prints from my Printer
From time to time you may experience some poor print quality from your printer in the form of broken text lines or half printed images. This is usually a problem caused by the print head that is located either in the printer or in the ink cartridge itself. The majority of inkjet printers manufactured by Brother, Epson, Samsung, Dell and Advent have print heads located in the printer. These can become clogged with dried ink if the printer has not been used frequently and can lead to poor quality prints. For those of you who only print the occasional boarding pass this will be more of a concern than those who print regularly either daily or weekly.
For the majority of HP and Canon inkjet printers, the print head is integrated in the ink cartridge. The theory behind the logic in locating the print head in the cartridge rather than the printer is that every time you replace the ink cartridge you are in effect replacing the print head. This obviously makes the ink cartridges more expensive to buy and you will usually find the printer will take 2 cartridges, one colour and one black.
In order to clear the blocked print heads you need to perform a simple head cleaning procedure and this can be achieved either through the printer, (if the printer has an maintenance facility) or from your PC or MAC. If you have an interface on your printer you should be able to access the maintenance > Tools > head cleaning. If you have a more basic model of printer that doesn’t have a user interface on the front of the printer simply go to file > print > properties > maintenance > head cleaning. It is recommended that you print out a test page following each head cleaning procedure as this will give you the result of your clean. If for some reason the clog on the print head is very sever it may take 5 or 6 attempts at the head cleaning before the blockage is cleared but you should see a gradual improvement on the test print as you progress.
If you have an ink cartridge with an integrated print head it is also possible to remove the cartridge, take a piece of kitchen town and damped with luke warm water and manually gently wipe the area where the ink exits the cartridge. This can help the flow of the ink if there is a blockage that the head cleaning procedure wonāt shif but is only worth a try on the intergrated print head ink cartridges.

How to Buy Affordable Compatible Epson Ink Cartridges in Limerick
Epson ink cartridges in Limerick are among the biggest sellers due to the large quantity of Epson printers sold both
locally and online in 2015. The Epson range of inkjet printers include those suitable for home use such as the ‘small-in-one’ printer/copier/scanner and the Epson Workforce range that is ideal for the busy household or the small office.
The all-in-one small printers – as they are also known – are probably the most popular and take four ink cartridges; black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The printer is reasonably inexpensive to buy initially but the printer ink in Limerick can be not more expensive than the printer. Unfortunately this is where a lot of people get caught out when first buying the printer, they donāt do their homework and check the price of the ink cartridges for the printer they are purchasing.
Original brand Epson ink cartridges can cost up to ā¬60 for a set of 4 cartridges but if you are clever enough you can find ink cartridges for your Epson printer for as low as ā¬1 a cartridge! It almost sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? But never the less itās possible. There is plenty of good quality compatible or non-original Epson inks available online and the really good ones come with a money-back guarantee. These cartridges are manufactured by a third-party (not Epson) in Asia and are copies of the original cartridges. Obviously, for the sake of copyright they aren’t exactly the same cartridge but will fit your printer just the same and work perfectly.
Today, compatible inks are manufactured to the same ISO standard as the original printer cartridges in Limerick and are designed to give you virtually the same results as their original counterparts.
Buying compatible ink cartridges in Limerick, however, might be a little more difficult, especially, for some of the more obscure brands. There is an excellent choice of compatible inks available online with next day delivery to Limerick – you don’t even have to leave the house to order! When you choose a supplier try and find one that has a good reputation, maybe one that is active on Facebook and that has positive feedback on their page about their products. Buying Epson ink cartridges is no longer be a nightmare if you have a house full of school going children whose need for printer ink is nearly as great as that of petrol for the car!

My Printer will not Recognise my Canon Compatible Ink Cartridges
Sometimes when we insert a compatible, remanufactured or non-original ink cartridge into a Canon printer, the printer may not recognise the ink cartridge or the ink volume levels of the cartridge. Typical error messages include:
1. ānon-original cartridge detectedā
2. ānon-original Canon cartridge detectedā
3. āink running lowā
4. ālow inkā
Any of the above messages will prevent you from printing.
Below is a quick guide on how to overcome this issue followed by more helpful information:
Error messages and easy Quick Fix:
Ink Cartridge Not Recognised:
Ink is running low:
Ink has run out:
Quick Fix:
Press and hold the printerās Stop / Reset button for at least 7 seconds to clear error message.
The first thing you can do is remove the cartridge and try re-installing it to see if the printer will recognise it, if it will still not recognise the cartridge then simply hold down the stop button (this is the button with the triangle inside a circle) for a minimum of 7 seconds. This will disable the printerās cartridge recognition facility and you should be able to print happily without any further interruption. It may be that the ink volume will not display after you have done this (although sometimes it will continue to do so) but that is a minor inconvenience when you weigh up the savings on the cost of the compatible Canon ink cartridges. If the printer says the cartridge is damaged or will still not recognise the cartridge then remove the cartridge and gently wipe the copper area or the cartridge with a dry soft cloth (the area known as the āchipā) to remove any static that may have accumulated on it and re-insert to see if it will solve the problem.
The vast majority of the compatible Canon ink cartridges will work first time but on occasion you might have to try a bit of trouble-shooting to get it going. Itās also possible that the ink cartridge may be faulty so if you have tried all of the above suggestions and have a second cartridge then it would be time to try that. If you donāt have a second cartridge then contact your supplier to see if a replacement cartridge can be issued but make sure you make a note of the error messages that are coming up on the printer each time you insert the ink cartridges as this will help them identify what the problem is. If you are covered by a money-back guarantee then you will have no problem and you will find that the supplier will do all they can to resolve the issue for you but will refund the money to you (after the return of the faulty cartridge) if they run out of options.
All good online ink cartridge suppliers will do all they can to help and usually will resolve the situation and you will be happily printing with Canon compatible ink cartridges that didnāt cost the earth!
Not all Canon ink cartridges will give an error message when installed in a printer but it is more likely to occur in remanufactured ink cartridges. A remanufactured ink cartridge is a cartridge that was once an original Canon cartridge that has been factory cleaned, repaired if necessary, refilled and had its ‘chip reset’ and re-packaged. The cartridge ‘chip’ is located in the actual cartridge and not the printer which makes the empty cartridge valuable for recycling or remanufacture. The remanufactured
Canon PG540XL black and CL541XL colour ink and the remanufactured Canon PG545XL and CL546XL ink are these such cartridges and may sometimes show the error message ‘low ink’, ‘ink has run out’ or ‘ink cartridge cannot be recognised’. This is because the printer is having difficulty reading the information on the reset ‘chip’ and needs a helping hand by the user resetting the printer by holding down the stop button for approximately 8 seconds as described above.
There are also Canon compatible cartridges that are direct copies of the original genuine Canon inks and are different from the remanufactured cartridges in that the ‘chip’ is lcoated in the printer and not the cartridge. Compatible Canon inks such as PGI550XL / CLI551XL and PGI570XL / CLI571XL are made by third party manufacturers with no connection to Canon but who have the sole objective of producing a cartridge that is a lot cheaper than the original Canon ink but at the same time maintains the quality. These compatible inks are sets of 5 and 6 inks (some printers use an additional grey colour cartridge), the idea being that they are branded as photo printers and produce high quality prints on photo paper as opposed to the printing of general purpose everyday A4 plain paper printing.

How to Save Money with the Best Value Compatible Ink Cartridges in Dublin
As 2016 kicks in and our thoughts turn on how to save money, one of the forgotten household bills is that of printer ink in Dublin. Many homes across Ireland spend a huge amount on printer ink in Dublin during a typical year, the bigger the household with school going children the bigger the bill for ink. Most families now have two printers on the go with one not being sufficient to satisfy the needs of those at secondary and grammar schools with the printing of projects and assignments. The first port of call for many people for their ink cartridges in Dublin is the local stationery or ink shop and of course you can expect to pay premium prices for your ink there. With Dublin ink prices being what they are you can expect to pay as much as ā¬60 for a set of original brand printer ink! Itās scandalous of course, considering that this may be more than you paid originally for the printer.
The key to buying the best value printer is to do your research first with regard to the running costs of the printer. This is essentially the cost of the printer ink in Dublin for your printer. Before you make the purchase find out if the printer will accept a compatible version of the printer ink cartridge as this can be where there are massive savings on ink cartridges to be made. Indeed itās possible to buy some high quality compatible ink cartridges online for as little as ā¬1 each!
There are some brands of printers that are more willing to accept the compatible cartridges than others. For example, it is our experience that Epson, Brother and Canon printers accept the non-original version of the cartridge a lot more readily than HP. Epson are particularly good value and with the ‘small in one’ printer range – printer/copier/scanner – these printers are great value to buy at under ā¬100 and are cheap to run. They are ideal for the home user and the ink cartridges are broken down into four or six cartridge colours. The big advantage with this is the ability to replace a single cartridge at any one time and not have to replace a whole set.
Once you have done your research and bought your printer, where to buy your cartridges is the next important key in the running costs of the printer. Online shopping for your cartridges is by far the best way to find the good value high quality ink cartridges in Dublin as most Irish online suppliers offer low cost delivery within 1 or 2 days to home or the office.

Where to Find Low Cost High Quality Laser Toner Cartridges in Ireland
Laser toner printers are not just used in the office but in many homes too, across Ireland. There are basically 2 types of laser printer, colour and mono (black and white). The mono printers use a black printer toner and are mostly used for document printing in the office where colour is not required and is a fast and cost effective way to produce black and white printing.
The speed of the printer by far out performs any inkjet printer and the paper tray will also allow the printer to hold much more paper than an inkjet printer. The initial outlay for a mono printer will be considerably more than that of an inkjet printer and the toner will be more expensive than the inkjet cartridges but the advantages of speed outweigh is negatives. The most cost effective way of running a laser toner printer is to use compatible laser toner.
Most of the leading brands are available such as HP, Brother, Canon, Samsung, OKI and Epson. The savings on average with using a compatible black printer toner is typically around 40% and this can make a huge difference to an office budget for toner across a year.
The colour laser printers will use four colours of laser toner consisting of black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The advantage of the using the four colours is that you are able to replace single colours as they run out. Again, the initial purchase price of the printer will be high and there are different grades of printers from standard stand-alone basic colour printers to full blown networked photocopiers. The running costs of a colour copier will be high so special attention needs to be paid to cost of the laser toner. The compatible laser toner cartridges for the four colours should again produce savings of around 40% on average and this will produce savings that will help the printer pay for it in the coming years. Buying the lasers online is always going to get you the best deals with some online suppliers offering low cost next day delivery or even in some cases free laser toner cartridges.
Generally speaking there are no down sides to using compatible laser toner. There may be sometimes issues with the quality of the colours, for example you are trying to reproduce exact corporate colours on your logo for headed paper but for general-purpose every day printing they are fine. The compatible printer toner is widely used on a daily basis in offices, schools and just about everywhere that has a laser toner printer. Contact your online supplier to see what deals they have for you and start saving your business money.
