Christmas is starting to creep up on us, so now is the time to start preparing ideas for your Christmas food and the Christmas dinner. Yes, we know that drink is obviously a very important part of Irish Christmas, where would Christmas celebrations be without some nice mulled wine or a Cherry. To compliment this some great Christmas food and treats will go down a treat.
Traditional Irish food usually entails Cake, Pudding and Turkey. But, Irish households are being more experimental now with their Christmas menu. Goose, Salmon, Savouries and Spiced Sauces are more familiar on Christmas Day. Not very traditional food but maybe the traditional meal is all too heavy for the day that is in. Christmas Day is a long day, especially, kids awake from the crack of dawn. A few drinks here and there, Christmas TV and the traditional family games. Quite a lot of activity to get through for the family, especially, with a fine portion of stuffed Turkey and Christmas Pudding.
The alternative dinner maybe more appealing. To get the family into the festive spirit, why not print out your menu for some fun, maybe some Christmas jokes and games to bring on the Christmas cheer. We recommend the Epson T0715 cartridges great for home printing.
Alternative Christmas Dinner Menu
- For starters, Salmon or Prawns to kick things off, a very tasty appetiser and not too heavy
- For the main course, a beautiful cooked Goose served with thinly sliced Roast Ham, tender Mini Potatoes, and fresh vegetables like Broccoli, Carrots and Brussels Sprouts
- For dessert rather than eating Christmas Pudding, we suggest Trifle or Tart will be much more satisfying
Not a huge diversion from the traditional foods served on Christmas Day, but, it does manage to keep it lighter and healthier. Keeping the energy levels up for all those Christmas family traditions post meal. It is vital you preserve some room for Christmas night Drinks and treats.
