I have installed my Advent ink cartridges and they are not recognised by my printer
Advent ink cartridges now come in two editions, the early edition that work with early Advent printer models such as AW10 and the new generation ink cartridge that facilitates the Advent AWP10 printer. The old generation cartridges will not work with the latest AWP10 printers and the message ‘ink cartridges not recognised’ will appear in the dialogue window. There is not way to get the earlier generation cartridges to work, you must return them to the supplier you bought them from and ask for the newer ink cartridge. It’s worth mentioning the model of the printer to the supplier when you are ordering the cartridge in the first place to avoid any disappointment.
The good quality compatible second generation ink cartridges will work fine with the Advent printers. These printer is manufactured on behalf of PC World and Currys. It is very similar in its workings to the earlier Kodak models that unfortunately are no longer manufactured. These printer is a good all rounder for general-purpose printing and uses 2 ink cartridges, black and colour. These ink cartridges are not readily available, as compatibles so you might have a bit of searching to do online for them but there are good quality compatibles out there and the savings you make will make the searching worth it.
There are a limited number of Advent printer models as the manufacturers never intended to flood the market with a variety of printers. This means that the new generation black and colour ink cartridges that are available will work with all the printer models. There are good value two packs available on line with even bigger savings offered with four pack bundle deals This would consist of two black and two colour cartridges and keep a home user in ink for some time to come. The best deals for Advent printer ink cartridges are undoubtedly online and with many free gifts also offered by suppliers as an incentive to buy, shopping online for these cartridges can be an enjoyable experience.
If there are any issue with the compatible cartridges then you should contact your supplier but its possible from time to time that the heads on the printer may become clogged and necessitate the need to perform a head cleaning procedure. This can happen to any printer, not just an Advent. This procedure is straight forward and easy to perform. You can access the procedure through your printer utilities (usually located in your printer and fax section) or if you are in Microsoft Word, open a file and simply go to file> print> properties> maintenance> head cleaning. This should sort out any issues such as poor print quality and allow you to print a test page to find out where the issues with your ink are.

How to Improve the Print Quality of Advent Inkjet Cartridges ?
What should I do if the prints from my Advent printer are poor quality or are missing the black ink?
If you experience problems with the quality of your print outs using your Advent printer it may be the ink cartridges or the print heads that are causing the problem. In the first instance, check that the ink cartridge compatible or original brand is installed properly. Lift the printer access door and remove the Advent ink cartridge making sure that any tape has been removed from the cartridge. Remember to check both the black and the colour ink cartridges. If this checks out ok then there is the possibility that the print heads are clogged and you need to perform a head cleaning procedure.
Head cleaning operations can vary from printer to printer but basically it involves giving the printer via the computer, the command to clean the print heads to allow the ink to follow through the ink cartridge. It may be that the issue is with the color or the black print head but as it’s not possible to clean the colors individually follow the following tips.
> First of all open or create any Microsoft word document.
> Step 1. Go to Print in drop down menu.
> Step 2. Select Properties
> Step 3. Select Maintenance
> Step 4. Head Cleaning
You are able to clean the heads and print out a test sheet afterwards. This is to show you if the heads have cleaned OK, if they haven’t cleaned OK then you need to repeat step 4 again. It will ask you if you want to clean the heads again or finish, you will probably need to clean the heads 3 or 4 times at least to clear any blockages.
Compatible Advent ink cartridges are generally very reliable and do not give problems, but as with any brand of inkjet cartridge, from time to time there may be issues arising. If the problems still persist after carrying out the head cleaning procedure then the next step is to replace the ink cartridge. The test sheet will show you if it is the black or one of the colours that is not printing correctly so replace the ink cartridge that is printing poorly first in an effort to eliminate the source of the problem.

Where can I buy Advent ink cartridges in Cork?
Advent printers are manufactured for Currys and PC World but the ink cartridges they use are not always easy to come by. The Advent A10 and AW10 series of printers use a black and colour ink cartridge both of which have been increasingly more difficult to obtain. Generally, ink cartridges in Cork are easily bought either from an ink shop in Cork or online with delivery usually within a couple of days. The advent cartridges until recently were only available from the Currys or PC World shops but are now available from good online suppliers.
Many people in Cork have bought these printers in recent years and have been delighted to learn that you can use the compatible version of the Advent ink cartridge without too many problems. Any good ink shop in Cork will stock the compatible Advent cartridges but they can be delivered either next day or within a few days when ordered online. Because there are so many Advent printers about, they would be one of more popular ink cartridges in Cork making the demand for them quite high.
Typically you could expect to pay around €21 for an original brand black ink cartridge and up to €35 for a colour cartridge. The compatible ink cartridges can be as low as €8.99 for a back and €13.99 for a colour cartridge excluding VAT. This is a saving of over 100% on the price of an original brand cartridge. The volume levels of ink are the same so it’s a really good deal but I am not sure if you would get this deal ink an ink shop in Cork – I suspect that these prices would only be available online.
Of course you will need both Advent ink cartridges to be have a ink in them for the printer to work, it’s not possible to print if one cartridge is empty – for example if you just want to print black you will still need the colour cartridge to have ink in it. The printer, it seems, will still use a tiny amount of colour ink even when printing a black image or text. The Advent printers are reliable and a good buy from PC World and Currys. However, the availability of the ink cartridges from another ink shop in Cork is more of a problem and can mean that you are limited to where you can buy your ink.

My Advent ink runs out very quickly, what can I do to make it last longer?
If you are finding that your Advent ink cartridge is not lasting as long as you would like, try these tips on saving money on your ink and toner.
Buying a new printer is a major commitment and providing ink cartridges for it can be an expensive so we often source a printer such as the Advent range as an affordable option. The first way to save money is to switch to compatible ink cartridges; these will save you up to 50% off the original brand advent ink cartridge. Plus, you can stock up on compatibles as most cartridges have a 2-year shelf life. Adjusting your printer settings for example into ‘draft’ mode can save you up to 50% of ink!
Before buying your printer you should give some thought to the cost of buying an ink cartridge and how many pages it is likely to print and if this is sufficient for your requirements. A busy office would go through too many inkjet cartridges to make purchasing an inkjet printer cost effective so in this case a laser printer would be a better option. Printing on a high quality photo paper will also use more ink so only use a premium paper when it’s absolutely necessary.
Will my Advent printer print black only if there is no ink in the colour ink cartridge?
Advent printers require you have both colour and black ink cartridges with ink in them for the printer to work either to print black or colour.
My Advent printer won’t print black.
When you install the ink cartridge ensure that the tape or tabs are properly removed for the cartridge. If this is the case then remove and reinstall the cartridge making sure that the cartridge clicks into position. If this doesn’t solve the problem you can attempt to reset the printer by removing the ink cartridges, switching the printer off, unplugging the printer, wait 30 seconds, switch the printer back on and reinsert the ink cartridges.
Will my Advent printer seems to be stuck in photocopy mode.
If this happens then first of all switch off the printer and restart your printer. Switch the printer back on to see if this clears it in the first instance. Check that the correct ink cartridge is fitted to the printer as this may cause the printer to react in this way. If the cartridge is correct, uninstall the printer, re-install and restart you computer.

Advent Ink Cartridges in Cork
Trying to buy and Advent ink cartridge in Cork generally means making your way to the local PC World or Currys store to pick the black and colour ink cartridges. Advent is a popular make and is in fact, Currys and PC World’s own brand printer. Many people might not be aware of this but this big chain of stores actually has a third party make the computers and printers for them so they can sell their own brand. A good move no doubt by the big two, but where does that leave us when we want to buy advent ink cartridges? Until recently, you had to go the big chain to buy your Advent ABK10 ink cartridge in Cork, the price you paid was the price they charged.
As is always the case, those clever people who make compatible and remanufactured ink cartridges have come up with a way to save us money! This is how they do it. They take an empty original Advent ACLR10 Colour ink cartridge, disassemble it, clean it out (by a machine washing process), refill it with more ink that it had in it originally, put it back together and test it. The reason they are able to put more ink in the ink cartridge is because no originally manufactured ink cartridges are never filled to maximum capacity anyway! Once the ink cartridge has been tested it is ready to be repackaged and sold at approximately 50% of the cost of the original Advent ink cartridge. A saving of 50% on your Advent ink cartridge really means that you can buy two remanufactured Advent ABK10 ink cartridges for the same price as one original cartridge.
So, where can you get these remanufactured Advent ink cartridges in Cork? I haven’t been able to find a high street shop in Cork that will supply these cartridges, however, if you jump on-line and type in a search for remanufactured Advent ink cartridges or compatible Advent ink cartridges it should bring up a supplier in Ireland that can offer next day delivery. The number of suppliers for Advent cartridges is few and far between but they are out there if you take the time to look. Look for a money-back guarantee on the ink cartridges in case there are any issues. You can also login to Facebook and type in ink cartridges in Cork, this will possibly lead you to a supplier locally who can supply Advent ink cartridges.
Advent printers are very popular and are certainly pushed by Currys and PC World as they would prefer to be selling their own brand items before other major brands. The availability of the Advent ACLR10 ink cartridge and ABK10 ink cartridge have made it difficult for the consumer to get a choice of prices locally as they aren’t available outside of the big stores. Now that they are available on-line, with next day delivery and with a full money back guarantee, it is at last giving some power back to the consumer!
