Canon Pixma MP560 Printer Review & Troubleshooting:

The all-in-one Canon Pixma MP560, launched in 2009, is an inkjet printer that has proved to be useful in homes as well as workplaces. Ideal for photo print, the printer uses Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges that give best results. The device is not difficult to operate and provides an array of features that facilitate ease for the user. You can operate the device from anywhere in your home or office with the help of wireless connection.

The Canon Pixma MP560 has the same faux-luxurious look like most of the printers from the Pixma series. With black edges and silver sides, the all-in-one printer weighs about 8 kgs. It measures 17.9 inches in width, 14.5 inches in depth and 6.3 inches in height.

The inkjet printer flaunts features wireless support, multi-functionality, borderless printing, Photo Direct print, dual paper sources and auto duplex printing. It exhibits a moderate print speed printing 9.2 ppm in black, 6.0 ppm in colour ink and a 4 X 6 borderless photo in about 39 seconds. Most of the credits for the good print quality of the printer goes to the Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges. The print resolution for colour print is 9600 X 2400 dpi and that for black and white print is 600 X 600 dpi.

The photo-copy speed of the copier has been recorded to approx. 26 seconds with a 25% to 400% reduction/ enlargement span. Features like auto exposure, fading correction, trimming copy, zoom etc are available. With this, the Flat Belt scanner works on CIS element. It’s optical resolution is 2400 X 4800 dpi and interpolated resolution is 19,200 X 19,200 dpi. A document as big as 8.5 X 11.7 inches can fit into the scanner.

Canon Pixma MP560 has an inbuilt WiFi which helps you to wirelessly give commands to the printer. The printer has an LCD screen with an Easy Scroll Wheel using which you can scroll through the menu. Features like Dual Color Gamut Processing Technology, Bluetooth (v2.0) and PictBridge give it an edge over its counterparts. The printer belongs to Generation Green which means it qualifies the Energy Star criteria.

How to replace Canon Pixma MP560 printer cartridges with new ones?

After a certain point of time, a printer starts showing various printing issues like blurred print, smeared print, faded print etc. which are not as huge as they might seem. These issues generally take place when ink runs out while printing is in progress. Make sure that empty Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges get replaced with the new ones.

Follow the steps below for replacing ink cartridges:

Note:
  • To maintain optimal print quality, we recommend the use of specified high-quality Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges. Refilling the ink is not recommended
  • Once an ink cartridge has been installed, do not remove it from the machine and leave it out in the open. This will cause the ink cartridges to dry out, and the machine may not operate properly when it is reinstalled. To maintain optimal printing quality, replace an ink cartridge within six months of first use
Step 1:

Make sure that the power is turned on, then gently open the Paper Output Tray.

Step 2:

Lift the Scanning Unit (Cover) until it stops. The Print Head Holder will move to the replacement position.

Step 3:

Remove the ink cartridge while the ink light flashing fast. Push the tab and lift up the ink cartridges to remove. Do not touch the Print Head Lock Lever.

Note:

Do not remove two or more ink cartridges at the same time. Be sure to replace cartridges one by one when need to replace two or more.

Step 4:

Prepare the new Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges.

  • Take a new ink cartridge out of its package, pull the orange tape in the direction of the arrow to peel it off, then remove the film
  • Hold the orange protective cap, then twist and remove it from the bottom of the ink cartridge. Hold the old cartridge on piece of paper to prevent the ink from staining your fingers

Step 5:

Install the new ink cartridges.

  • Insert the front end of ink cartridges into the Printhead at a slant. Make sure that the position of the cartridges matches the label
  • Press the mark (Push) on the cartridges until they snap firmly into place. Make sure that the ink lamp lights up red

Step 6:

Lift the Scanning Unit (Cover) slightly, and then close it gently. Then check by printing on a sheet of paper if the problem resolves.

Canon Pixma MP560 Questions:

Q. Is it advisable to put tape on the printhead before storing open, partially used ink cartridges temporarily? Can I know if I can do that to the Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges which I have to store away occasionally?
A.
You can put the top on the printhead provided you handle it carefully and ensure no damage is caused to it. The printhead is a delicate component which may not be able to withstand even a minor abrasion, and you’ll have to discard the cartridge altogether.

Q. Will switching over to using compatible Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges really be an eco-friendly measure on my part? Will I save really big on printing costs as well or a negligible amount? I need to be sure before giving up original ink cartridges which I trust wholly…
A.
Yes, compatible ink cartridges are built from recycled materials, which means no new hardwares are used up. It acts as a constructive act towards the environment as e-waste generation is reduced and the costs are reduced. Besides, the quality of output is not any less than that of the original.

Q. I have to travel overseas for at least three months. I just installed new Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges in my printer. Nobody’s going to use the printer while I’m away, so I thought of taking the partly used ink cartridges out and store them externally. Is it ok to do that and if yes, how do I go about it?
A.
Yes, you can store your ink cartridges outside and reinstall them later provided you do the following:

  • Take the used ink cartridge out carefully and keep it in a clean zip-sealed bag (if you to store more than one ink cartridge, you’ll have to use separate bags for each)
  • Take a slightly damp sponge or soft towel and place it in the bag along with the ink cartridge in order to maintain initiate humid condition needed for it) and seal the bag
  • Store the bag in a dark, cool place till you reinstall the printer ink cartridge

Q. I am unsure as to how to replace my cartridges and insert new ones in my canon MP560?
A. We would advise that you use the details provided in the instruction booklet provided with your printer. If you no longer possess these, the Canon website offers great help and advice as well as a user manual online.

Q. Can i print back to back on the MP560?
A. Yes the Canon Pixma MP560 has a duplexing feature, which allows double sided printing. This is a great bonus as it reduces the amount of paper used for each document.

Q. Will compatibles give me a good enough quality or will I notice the difference?
A. Generally for day to day printing the compatible cartridge gives a more than sufficient quality compared to original cartridges. However it is when photographs are printed some difference can be viewed.

Can i pay through paypal?
A. Yes we accept paypal payments as well as card payments and telephone payment on 028/048 3083 3221

Q. I need to scan a document from my Canon Pixma MP560 printer but it is not letting me perform any action and displaying an error - 'out of ink'. Do I need to install Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges even when I am scanning? If not then tell me how can I get rid of this message.
A. You can always perform other functions even when you are out of the Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges. Here what you need to do to remove the message and continue with the scanning:

  • Clear the error message by holding the Resume/Cancel button for 5 seconds. It is the button with a red triangle inside a red circle. In case you can not locate this button refer the printer user guide to see the image and description of the Resume/Cancel button
  • Once the error message disappear you can command the printer to scan

Note: Please know that if you are performing any printing related task after removing the ‘out of ink’ message, the quality of prints cannot be guaranteed. It is also possible you get blank printouts due to empty Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges. It is recommended to replace the cartridges to continue with quality work.

Q. I have a Canon Pixma printer. It has been a while since I am using the printer and now I need to know the ink levels of the Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges. Can you guide me with the process?
A. You can check the ink levels of your Canon Pixma printer either from the LCD screen on the printer or with the ink lamps. Follow the steps below:

Check ink Levels from the LCD screen on printer:

  • Turn on the printer (make sure the device is on when you perform these actions)
  • Press the home button on the screen
  • Press the left Function button until you land on the ink cartridge images

If you see any yellow exclamation sign above any of the ink cartridges, it means that individual colour cartridge is low on ink. Note that the cartridges with sufficient ink levels will not display any sign.

Though you can continue with one or two Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridges at low levels, we recommend you to replace those as soon as they get emptied. Because it is possible that your printer would stop working if any of the cartridge is empty (even if you are printing black and white).

Checking ink levels with Ink Lamps:

  • Keep the printer on and open the paper output tray
  • Lift up the scanning unit up as wide as it can go
  • When you lift the scanning unit up the printheads would automatically move to the replacement position
  • Check the ink lamp above Canon Pixma MP560 ink cartridge:
    • If the ink lamp/s is flashing within an interval of 3 seconds, it is indicating that ink cartridge is low on ink. You can continue with the printing but would need to replace the cartridge soon
    • If the ink lamp/s is flashing fast (within one or less seconds), then that ink cartridge is completely empty and you need to replace the cartridge right away
    • If the ink lamp/s is off then that ink cartridge was not installed correctly. Press the “Push” button just above the ink cartridge to take that out. Then, check the cartridge to make sure the packaging material and seal of the cartridge was removed properly. Also, make sure the cartridge chip is clean. Reinstall that cartridge
  • Once you have checked the ink lamp/s close the scanning unit and check the printer LCD. If there is no message on the screen you can continue with the printing
