How to clean the area around the ink nozzles of HP Envy 5640 e-All-in-One printer?
If you see the track marks or smears on the printouts, clean the area around ink nozzles. Carry out the following steps for the cleaning procedure:
- Collect a fur-free cloth or a soft material that does not leave fibres.
- Collect distilled or bottled water for cleaning.
- Ensure that your printer power is on.
- Open the scanner cover and HP Envy 5640 e-All-in-One ink cartridge access door. (The cartridge moves to the access area)
- Before continuing, wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
- Lift the lid on the ink cartridge slot, to release the ink cartridge and then softly push the lid back until it stops.
- To remove it from the slot, pull up on the ink cartridge.
- Hold the ink cartridge by its sides and observe the cartridge contacts for ink and debris buildup. Avoid touching the copper coloured contacts. They result in clogs or bad electrical connections.
- Lightly, soak the clean cloth with distilled water and then compress excess water from it.
- Using the swab, clean the face and edges around the ink nozzles. Do not clean the nozzle plate.
- Allow the cleaned nozzle area to dry or use another swab to dry it.
- Hold the ink cartridge at a slight upward angle and slide the HP Envy 5640 e-All-in-One ink cartridge into the empty slot.
- To fix the ink cartridge into its place, close the lid on the cartridge.
- Once the ink cartridges are installed, close the ink cartridge access door and the scanner lid.
- You can now try to print again.
Note: Never use platen cleaners or alcohol to clean the nozzle area else your printer or the HP Envy 5640 e-All-in-One ink cartridge may get damaged.
Note: Remove and clean both the ink cartridges one by one. Do not remove them at the same time. Also, ink cartridges should not be kept outside the printer for more than 30 minutes.
