Procedure to change the ink cartridges of your Brother DCP printer
The Brother DCP-J315W printer comes with a good software bundle and offers some useful features. Along with the printer package, you get Brother DCP-J315W ink cartridges as well as consumables. But after a certain time period, you would experience print related problems such as banded printing, missing prints or no prints at all. This indicates that the ink cartridges are low on ink and need to be replaced. It is strongly recommended by the company that you use the original Brother DCP-J315W ink cartridges only, for a lasting good print quality.
The procedure to change the ink cartridges is not complex. To do so follow these steps:
- Turn the printer on and open the cartridge cover. Check which ink cartridges need to be replaced. The LCD screen will have the information of which cartridges require replacement. Make a note of these.
- Keep the new ink cartridges ready as per requirement. Do not open the packaging yet.
- Press down the release lever in order to unlock the ink cartridges that have to be replaced. Gently pull the cartridge out and keep it aside.
- Open the Brother DCP-J315W ink cartridge packaging and take the ink cartridge out.
- A yellow cap on the cartridge will have a green knob. Turn this knob clockwise to release the vacuum seal. This will loosen the yellow protective covering. Remove this cap.
- The ink cartridge has a direction arrow marked on to it. Insert the respective colour cartridge in the direction of the arrow that has been indicated on the label.
- Push the cartridge till it clicks in place. The cartridge is now fixed into the slot correctly and will not move. Close the cartridge cover.
- The printer will now automatically reset the ink levels. Once the ink levels have been reset, you can reuse the printer. Do not turn the machine off during this process.
