Q. I have just finished with the Epson Stylus Dx3800 ink cartridges that came with the printer and now need to install the new ones. Please guide me how do I install the cartridges for the first time?
A. Please follow the instructions below to ensure correct installation:

• Lower the printer's output tray and open the top cover
• Connect the power cable to the printer and switch it on. The print heads will now move to the replacement position
• Lift up the ink cartridge clamps
• Before you open the new cartridge package, shake it four to five times. Then remove it. Keep in mind to not touch the green chip present on the side of the cartridge, this can harm the cartridges
• Expel the yellow tape from the bottom of the ink cartridge
• Place the Epson Stylus Dx3800 ink cartridges into the cartridge holder with the bottom down. Then push the ink cartridge until it clicks into place
• Close the cartridge cover and press it until it fits properly
• Then, close the printer cover and press the ink or start button to begin charging the system. This can take up to three minutes and is complete when the power light stops flashing

Q. I have just installed the new cartridges in my printer and not able to print. I have turned my printer on and off several times, but still the issue not resolved. What could be the problem and how can I correct it?
A. Well, if this is a case open the cartridge cover, it might be possible that you have forgotten to remove the yellow tape from the Epson Stylus Dx3800 ink cartridge before installing it. This may result in the decline of the print quality or you may not be able to print. If you have done so, take the cartridge out of the product and remove the yellow tape, and then reinstall it back. Also, when you open Status Monitor or send a print, the Status Monitor window will appear but it may not be able to connect to the printer to report it's status.

Follow the following steps to correct the glitch:

1. Click or tap the Windows icon in the bottom-left of your screen and click or tap on Settings.
2. Click or tap on Network Á Internet.
3. Click or tap Windows Firewall at the bottom of the screen.
4. Click or tap Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall.
5. Click or tap on the Change Settings button.
6. A list of programs will appear under Allowed apps and features. Check the list for any Epson programs such as EPSON Status Monitor, EPSON Network Utility, EPSON Scan, EPSON Scan Settings.
7. Click or tap the box beside the program (under "Name") to allow it through Windows Firewall and check the boxes for both Private and Public.
8. If you have located the Epson program and allowed it, click or tap OK to finish. If you are unable to locate the program in the list, you can locate it and add manually. To do this, click or tap on the Allow another app button.
9. If the program is listed, click or tap on the program to highlight it and then click OK. Now repeat step 5 to allow the program through Windows Firewall.
