Q. After performing few printing jobs, with time my printer start receiving various print quality issues like vertical banding or lines appear on printouts. What are the possible reasons for such issues?
A. If you are having print quality problems like vertical misalignment or banding appear on your printouts, follow the instructions below to resolve them. These issues are so common and can be easily removed after cleaning the printheads or by replacing the defective cartridges
1. Avoid usage of old, faulty or damaged ink cartridges
If Epson XP-415 ink cartridges have been installed in the printer for longer than 6 months then, it may cause inconsistent results. This is because with time the ink cartridges may dry out or the printheads blocked with dry ink resulting in low-quality prints. It is recommended to replace the old or damaged ink cartridges with new and high-quality cartridges for better printing results.
2. Use high-quality, compatible Epson ink cartridges
Usage of Epson compatible cartridges guarantees high quality, water-resistant, quick-drying inks, and superior image quality. Each Epson XP-415 ink cartridge is manufactured in the strictest of quality controlled environments to ensure no external contaminants get into the ink. The ink used for printing is first tested and then supplied for printing.
Q. What should I do if my printouts are missing colour or print only black?
A. If you have both the cartridges filled and still receiving only black prints, try the steps below:
- Make sure your printer software is not set to use black ink only.
- The print head nozzles may need cleaning for this refer the user manual for cleaning them.
- The Epson XP-415 ink cartridges may be old or low on ink. See Replacing the ink cartridges for details.
- Try turning off the PhotoEnhance mode. Your printed colours can never exactly match your on-screen colours. However, you can use a colour management system to get as close as possible. Try using the ICM (Windows) or ColourSync (Macintosh) setting.
Q. I bought a printer a few years back and hardly use it. One day while printing it makes a sound like it is printing, but there was no ink on the paper. What's wrong could you suggest me how can I resolve this?
A. Yes, this kind of problem generally occurs when your printer is not used frequently for printing purpose. The reason could be clogged printheads. Clean them first by performing a head cleaning followed by printing a nozzle check pattern. A head cleaning and nozzle check should be performed as a cycle.
After printing a nozzle check pattern, examine the printed dot pattern to see if there is any improvement. Each of the staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If the gap remains, continue with another cycle. Perform up to four cycles if necessary.
If the nozzle check is not printing completely, and cleaning them doesn't help, try replacing the Epson XP-415 ink cartridges. You can also turn the printer off and wait overnight this allows any dried ink to soften and then try cleaning the print head again.
