Why the printer keeps on showing “No Cartridge” message even when cartridges are present in it?
The Brother MFC J470DW is an inkjet all-in-one printer ideal for home users. The printer falls in a comfortable price bracket making it affordable to a large number of users. The printer is shipped with Brother MFC J470DW ink cartridges as supplier cartridges. The printer is easy to setup.
The printer operates flawlessly but you might notice that even after installation of the ink cartridges, the screen shows “No Cartridge”. There are many underlying causes to this problem. One of the reasons for it is that the Brother MFC J470DW ink cartridges have not been installed properly. To reinstall the ink cartridges, you need to follow these steps:
- Turn the printer on and open the lid of the printer.
- Now lift up the cartridge cover lid. You will be able to see the ink cartridges.
- Push the lever of each ink cartridge to release it from the printer. Gently take out the cartridges.
- In the cartridge space you will notice that each slot has a colour specification. There is a specified position for each colour cartridge. Place the respective ink cartridge into the slot of each colour. Push it down till it clicks into place.
- Close the cartridge cover lid.
- When you are replacing an ink cartridge, the printer screen will display a message asking if you have put a brand new cartridge for each colour. You have to select Yes for each colour cartridge. In case the re-installed ink cartridge are the ones already present in the printer then select No.
While doing the above process, if you mix the colours up by placing the cartridges in wrong slots then the print quality of the printer will be compromised. When you install Brother MFC J470DW ink cartridges, some ink is pulled into the head nozzle tubes. When the colours are mixed then it will affect printing. Switch the cartridges back into correct slots and run head nozzle cleaning cycles many times. Keep on checking the quality by taking test prints.
