What to do when printing becomes faint or colour is incorrect while using the Canon Pixma MP160 Ink Cartridges?

There can be a possibility that cartridge nozzles are clogged if the printing becomes faint or colour is incorrect. Follow the step-by-step procedure listed below to get rid of the issue.

Print the nozzle check pattern-

• Print the nozzle check pattern to check whether the ink is being ejected properly from the cartridge nozzles.
• Load A4 size paper or letter-sized plain paper in the auto sheet feeder.
• Press « Maintenance » repeatedly until « A » appears.
• Press [Black] or [Colour].
• Then the machine will print a nozzle check pattern.
• Confirm the nozzle check pattern. If the lines are broken or white lines appear on the pattern then clean the cartridge.

Cartridges Cleaning-

• If missing lines or white stripes occur in the printed nozzle check pattern, proceed with the cartridge cleaning process to unclog the cartridge nozzles.
• Press Menu repeatedly until the Maintenance tab appears.
• Use left-right navigation to select Cleaning.
• Press Maintenance repeatedly until the « H » appears.
• Press black or Colour in the tab.
• After the cleaning process print the nozzle check pattern again.

If the normal cleaning does not solve the issue then perform deep cleaning.

Cartridges Deep Cleaning-

Deep cleaning consumes more ink than the standard cleaning, perform this procedure only when necessary.

• Press Menu repeatedly until the Maintenance tab appears.
• Use left-right navigation to select Deep Cleaning.
• Press Maintenance repeatedly until the « H » appears.
• Press Black or Colour in the tab.

If the problem persists then perform the deep cleaning twice. If performing deep cleaning does not resolve the issue then replace the cartridge.

Replace the cartridge-

• Make sure to turn on the machine and then open the scanning unit.
• Remove the empty cartridge.
• Prepare a replacement cartridge, unpack it and remove the protective tape from it. Make sure to not apply the tape again and to not touch the gold terminals and nozzles of the cartridge.
• Insert the new cartridge and push it inside the holder until it clicks into the place.
• Repeat the above-listed steps for all the empty or problem cartridges.
• Close the scanning unit.
