Instructions for recycling the Canon PG40 Ink cartridges:

1. Put the cartridge on some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.
2. Drill a hole into the dimple just below the "B".
3. Fill the syringe with 20 ml of black ink.
4. Inject ink into the drilled hole very slowly.
5. When finished, leave the drilled hole opened.
6. Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.

For best results, leave cartridge in printer for 8 hours after refilling so the ink can saturate the entire sponge. Note: Each time the cartridge is removed from the printer an "empty cartridge" message appears and a blinking amber light will come up on the printer. Holding the paper feed press stop/reset button down for 3 to 5 sec. It will allow you to override the counter. Some printers can be tricked into reading full again. Instructions for recycling the Canon CL41 Ink cartridges:

1. Put the cartridge on some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.
2. Peel off the top label.
3. You will notice three small holes which are too small for a syringe needle to get through.Drill each hole larger with a thumb drill.
4. Fill the syringe with 6 ml of color ink.
5. Slowly inject ink into each chamber until the sponge full.
6. When finished leave the top label off and the filling holes exposed as while printing it has to pull in air.
7. Replace the cartridge and run 1 -3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.

2. Unpack ink cartridge and remove the orange protective tape.
3. Once you remove the orange tap from the cartridge, do not attempt to reattach it. Also, be careful and do not to touch the gold electrical contacts and the print heads. Now insert the black Canon PG40 ink cartridge to the left and colour Canon CL41 ink cartridge to the right slots.
4. For proper installation, push up on the front of the ink cartridges until they lock into the place.
5. If you listen a click sound after cartridges lock into their places, it confirms the cartridges are installed properly.
6. Now close the printer cover.
7. Wait for one or two minutes, the printer is ready to print.
