Features & Benefits
The Expression ET-2650 EcoTank wireless all-in-one printer features easy-to-fill, supersized ink tanks that eliminate the need for cartridges. It comes with Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink in the box. That's a huge amount of ink - enough to print up to 4,000 pages and around 20 sets of ink cartridges. The ET-2650 offers an unrivalled combination of ease and value, allowing you to print anything you want in color without fear of damaging it. Plus, with low-cost replacement Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink bottles, you can save up to 80% on ink. The ET-2650 has a 1.44" color LCD and a built-in card slot, as well as built-in WiFi for printing from tablets and smartphones.
Here are the top three benefits of using an EcoTank printer:
- Printing costs are significantly lower than with a standard Epson printer. If you print frequently, an EcoTank can save you a lot of money.
- Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink bottles contain a large amount of ink, allowing you to print hundreds of pages at a cheap cost per page.
- You don't have to worry about running out of ink too often. Eco Tanks are promoted as having up to two years' worth of ink in the package. This figure is based on a monthly print volume average and may vary depending on how frequently you print. Regardless, because each bottle contains so much ink, replacements are hard to come by.

Expert Verdict
The Epson Expression ET-2650 EcoTank All-in-One Printer is a low-volume inkjet all-in-one printer (AIO) with a feature set that limits it to light-duty home use. It is a remake of the Expression ET-2550. As is the case with Epson's other "super tank." The primary premise behind the ET-2650 EcoTank models is that you pay more upfront for the product and considerably less for the Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink to keep it operating. The ET-2650 outperforms its predecessor and, like all EcoTank models, has reduced operating expenses. However, it lacks an automatic document feeder (ADF), an auto-duplexer, and a few other important features, just like the ET-2550 before it. You give up a lot to print cheaply, but if you only require basic printing, this upgrade is more appealing than the one it replaces.
For a supertank printer, the ET-2650 is simple to set up. The good news is that Epson has updated its ink bottles to require a tiny squeeze to pour the ink into the reservoirs. The ET-2650 took about 20 to 30 minutes to fill up with Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink, and the installation programme wouldn't connect the printer until the setup was complete.
The ET-2650 prints monochrome pages at 10 pages per minute (ppm) and color pages at 4.5 pages per minute (ppm) with Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink. In terms of print quality, the ET-2550 fell short. The alternative, ET-2650, produced significantly better outcomes. Text quality was decent for standard-size fonts (10 to 12 points), but smaller fonts were a little distorted here and there, but not to the point of being unusable. The quality of our PowerPoint handout and Excel figures was surprisingly good, with none of the bandings that we saw in dark fills and gradients from other inkjet models. However, unlike the G-series Pixmas and most other inkjet printers, the ET-2650 (like its predecessor) is unable to produce borderless photos and documents.
The ET-2650's redeeming qualities are its print quality and operating expenses. It comes with enough Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink to print up to 4,000 monochrome or 6,500 color pages, with additional ink bottles yielding up to 4,500 black and 7,500 color prints. Because of the large volume of Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink necessary to charge the printer, the initial bottles yield substantially less. The ET-2650 isn't anything that different from the ET-2550, other than better printing and a more streamlined outer appearance. Epson has done the same with the ET-2650 as it did with the first series of EcoTank models, retrofitting existing AIOs with reasonably big ink reservoirs and new piping. This time, however, the right-hand appendage that houses the ink containers is substantially shorter and appears less like an afterthought. The ink reservoirs in Canon's MegaTank models are built into the front of the chassis, making ink levels easier to view. This time, though, you can monitor Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink levels from within the printer driver each time you print, something you couldn't do with prior EcoTank or MegaTank printers.
The Epson Expression ET-2650 EcoTank is a significant upgrade over the ET-2550, particularly in terms of overall print quality. However, it now competes with printers like the Canon Pixma G3200 and Brother MFC-J985DW XL, which have lower operating costs and more powerful feature sets. The Brother model, for example, has an automatic document feeder and two-sided printing, but it does not produce photographs and graphics as well as the ET-2650. The ET-2650, on the other hand, has a lot to recommend it. If all you need is a printer that prints well and cheaply, the ET-2650 can suffice - as long as you use it consistently. If you want to save money in the long run, it supports compatible Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink, which works in the same way as genuine Epson EcoTank ET-2600 Ink, so you won't have to sacrifice quality.
