The Canon Pixma MP530 is an all-purpose printer for small office and home users. The device can print, scan, copy and fax as well. To carry out the replacement procedure one must follow certain steps before doing it. If your Canon Pixma MP530 ink cartridges are too old and you are still performing printing function through it, it may result in poor prints. Thus follow the steps below to replace the cartridges.
Note:
- To maintain optimal print quality, use an ink cartridge within six months of its first use
- Once an ink cartridge has been used, do not remove it from the machine and leave it out in the open. This will cause the Canon Pixma MP530 ink cartridges to dry out and the machine may not operate properly if it is reinstalled
- Colour ink consumption may occur even when black-and-white or grayscale printing is specified. It is generally consumed in print-head and print-head deep cleaning process, which are necessary to maintain the machine’s capabilities
- Do not replace ink cartridges during scanning in documents. If you open the scanning unit (Printer Cover) during scanning in, documents may not be scanned in properly
Step 1: Ensure that the machine is turned on.
Step 2: Raise the scanning unit (Printer Cover) until it stops. The paper output tray will open automatically and the print head holder moves to the center. Press the open button in order to open the paper output tray, if it does not open automatically.
Step 3: Open the inner cover.
Step 4: Push the tab and remove the ink tank whose lamp is flashing red fast. Do not touch the print head lock lever, only remove the ink cartridges.
Step 5: Prepare a replacement tank
- Remove the new Canon Pixma MP530 ink cartridges from its packaging, then pull the orange tape towards the arrow so that the protective film does not remain on the air hole. Then remove the film
- Remove the orange protective cap from the bottom of the ink tank and discard it
Step 6: Install the new ink cartridges
- Install the ink tank into the printhead
- Press on mark on the ink tank until the tank snaps firmly into its place
- Ensure that the ink tank clicks into place and then its lamp lights red
Step 7: Close the inner cover
Ensure that the inner cover is closed properly. Printing will not occur if the inner cover is open
Step 8: Slowly close the scanning unit (Printer Cover)
Be sure to hold the scanning unit (Printer Cover) firmly using both hands, and be careful not to get your fingers caught.
