• Press the cover release button and then open the front cover.

• Fan the paper stack, and then put it back in the MP tray.

The memory of my Brother HL5380DN printer is full. What should I do?

You can do the following things:

• Press ‘Go’ to print the remaining data that exists in the printer memory. You should cancel the print job if you want to delete the remaining data in the printer memory.
• Try to reduce the complexity of your document or lower the print resolution.
• Add more memory.

Follow the procedure below to install additional memory.

• Turn off the printer and then unplug the printer. Also, disconnect the interface cable from the printer.
• Remove the DIMM cover. 
• Unpack the DIMM. Hold the DIMM by the edges.
• Hold the DIMM by the edges and align the notches in the DIMM with the protrusions in the slot.
• Insert the DIMM diagonally (1), then tilt it toward the interface board until it clicks into place (2).
• Put the DIMM cover back on.
• Now, you can reconnect the interface cable to your printer. Plug the printer back in, and then turn it on.
• Ensure that you have installed the DIMM properly. To ensure this, you can print the configuration page which will show the current memory size.

I just replaced Brother HL5380DN toner cartridge and LCD continues to display an error message “Replace Toner”. How to fix the message?

If the LCD continues to display the error message, please follow these steps to solve the problem:

• The Brother machines have corresponding consumables like the toner cartridge and the drum unit. Make sure that you didn’t replace consumable by mistake. Don’t replace the drum unit instead of the toner cartridge.
• While replacing the toner cartridge, make sure that you install a brand new and unused toner cartridge. Do not swap the Brother HL5380DN cartridges from one machine to another or install a partially used toner cartridge. Else, this might create a problem.
• Ensure that the Brother HL5380DN toner cartridge is installed correctly. Remove the cartridge and reinstall back properly.
• Clean the corona wire.

I’m facing the print quality problem for Brother HL5380DN printer. How to clean the drum unit?

If you have print quality issues, clean the drum unit as follows:

• Open the manual feed slot cover.
• Slide the manual feed slot paper guides slowly to the width of the paper that you are going to use, using both hands.
• With both hands, put one blank sheet of paper in the manual feed slot until the front edge of paper touches the paper feed roller. Now, wait until the machine automatically feeds paper.
• Make sure that the printer is in ready state. Now choose the “Color Correction” and press OK.
• Choose “Drum Cleaning” and press Go. The printer will detain the paper and start cleaning the drum unit.
• Once the printer has finished cleaning, “Completed” appears on the LCD. To return the printer
• Close the cover and restart the printer.
  Note: Do not put the paper in the manual feed slot before the printer is in Ready state. Else, an error may occur and the printer will stop printing.
