A. Lined Printouts

At times the printer may produce printouts with white or dark lines. This is commonly known as banding. To correct the problem, follow these steps:

1. The print head nozzles may be clogged and need cleaning. You need to run a nozzle cleaning cycle if these are clogged.
2. Check that you have loaded the printable side of the paper.
3. Check that the paper type setting on your PC match the paper that you have loaded. If not then the printing will not be up to the mark.
4. You might have turned on high speed printing in the printer software in your system. You need to turn it off.
5. Check whether the print head is aligned. If not then align it.
6. Replace the old ink cartridge with a new Epson XP520 ink cartridge. The previous cartridge might be damaged and therefore giving low quality printouts.

B. Faint Printouts

A. This problem is not related to Epson XP520 ink cartridges in any way. It is related to the settings of your printer. The printer driver color management for any Epson machine is automatic. The setting remains this way until you change it. Photo Realistic mode is used for Word Art while Vivid mode is used for text and vectors. This cause differences in the output. You should remember that if you are printing using the Vivid mode then the color of the document will be in accordance to the graphics. If Photo Realistic mode is selected then the color of the document will be in accordance to the Word Art. If you have not select either of the two then you can check the RGB value for the image color and use that for the text or Word Art. The print result will be according to that value.

Q. Please guide me to use the print head alignment feature.
A. The print head alignment utility can be accessed easily through your printer software. To use it, you need to click on the Start button on the computer screen. Here select Settings option. The n go to the Printers sub-option. When you have selected your printer, right click on it and select the Properties option. Here select the Utility tab followed by Print Head Alignment and click on Ok. In the next dialogue box, select Next then Print. A dialogue box will appear that will guide you through the process of print head alignment. You will have to print a test page to see if the heads are aligned.

Q. If the ink levels of Epson XP520 ink cartridges need to be checked, how can it be done?
A. To check the ink levels of the Epson XP520 ink cartridges, you must have Epson Status Monitor Utility installed to your system. It is present in the CD provided with the printer.
