Expert Verdict
The Epson XP-235 is a hundred percent aimed at the cheap printer market. This separate Epson XP-235 Ink Cartridges printer excels for the users and provides 100% customer satisfaction. Whether you're a student who wishes to print coursework, a home user that wishes to have a new printer or just someone wanting to print photos and documents on a less budget, the XP-235 is the right choice for you. Even though it does not have the Apple AirPrint and the automatic 2-sided printing (duplex printing) printer, it is still a great plug-and-go home printer, giving more than enough value for the crazily low purchase price. The setup process is easy and simple. Plus we can not deny the fact that it has a perfect small size. This printer really is the right option for a small space, saving you a lot of space and can be easily moved around the home. We can say it is barely larger than a sheet of A4 paper and makes no noise. You just have to raise the paper support and tray, load paper and start printing. Its menu is a simple combination of five LED indicators and six navigation buttons that are clearly labelled along with their symbols (Wi-Fi, cancel and so on). All the buttons are fairly easy to use. Although there's no LCD screen, it is easy enough even for a person who has never touched any gadget.
The print speed isn't fast as you can assume with its price. Epson doesn't do themselves any justice by essentially quoting the quite poor print speed. In our tests, we found closer to 7 pages per minute which is lower than their initial claims. However, it is still more than fast enough for a budget machine. When it comes to print quality, it is somewhat better than normal high quality, thanks to the high yield Epson XP-235 Ink Cartridges. Be it printing work, images or photographs, for a printer at such a price range, the results are fantastic. The images are as clear and accurate as a dedicated photo printer would be but they're more than good enough to frame. Hence, nothing is better than getting such quality at this price. It is a go-to-printer and must be bought by people who are looking for a multi-functional machine at this lower price.
Epson XP-235 Ink Cartridges also play a major role in making this machine budget-friendly. As it comes with separate Epson XP-235 Ink Cartridges and you only need to replace the cartridge that has been used. The XP-235 takes a new range of Epson Epson XP-235 Ink Cartridges which are compatible and rare to go. With costs working out around 1p per page for colour prints this machine is competitive with any budget printer and can beat any other machine in the market with the same feature.
The only downside we saw is that Epson uses a technology called piezoelectric printing that has tiny printhead nozzles that are more prone to blockages. If you print very rarely then it's suggested that you go for another printer line that has the printhead built into each cartridge. But it will be slightly more expensive to run.
Summing up, it is an ideal choice for anyone looking for a cheap printer that doesn't skimp on print quality. It's also ideal for people who never used any machine, with a simple plug-and-print setup and minimal navigations pressing needed, it just does what you need and expect. If you need to save more money in the long run, it supports the compatible Epson XP-235 Ink Cartridges and they work the same as the genuine one, so you won't have to compromise with quality. As this printer is a new range of Epson, it'll be around for years to come.

What are the steps to be followed if the print quality of Epson XP-235 is poor?
One might face some issues like blurry prints, banding, missing colours of the printouts etc, when the Epson Expression series printer has blocked printhead nozzles or because of the dried out Epson Expression XP-235 ink cartridges. Whichever the cause is, the print quality issue can be resolved by following some easy steps.
- Use paper supported by this printer
- Select the appropriate paper type setting for the type of paper loaded in the printer
- Avoid using damp, old, or damaged paper
- Flatten the paper or envelope before using them
- Use higher quality setting before printing
- Check if you are using compatible Epson XP-235 ink cartridges that are designed to work best with the printer
- Let the printouts dry completely before filling them or displaying them. Do not allow direct contact with the sunlight or use a dryer to dry the printouts
- Use high-resolution data while printing images or photos as the images on websites are often in low resolution although they look good enough on the display

The Epson Status Monitor 3 displays three options:
- Yes: Select when you want to use the mixture of colour inks to create black ink
- No: Select if you want to continue using remaining black ink
- Disable this feature; Select this to continue using black ink. This window is not displayed until you replace the black ink cartridge & it runs low again.
