How to check and clean the printheads of my Epson XP-247 printer?
If your printout becomes faint and you observe a visible banding or unexpected colours on the document, this means that the printheads are probably clogged and need cleaning. Follow the steps below to clean them:
Note:
When ink is low, you will not be able to clean the printheads. Replace the Epson XP-247 ink cartridges first and then continue with the cleaning process- Load the plain paper of A4-size in the printer
- Press the power button to turn the printer off
- Turn it back on while holding down the button, and then release it when the power light flashes. Check the nozzle pattern is printed
- Examine the printed pattern carefully. If you observe any broken lines or missing segments, the print head nozzles may be clogged. Go to the next step. If you cannot see any broken lines click on the ‘OK’ pattern which means that the nozzles are not clogged and that the printhead cleaning is not necessary
- Hold down the button for at least three seconds until the power light starts flashing. Then, the printhead cleaning starts
- When the power light stops flashing, print a nozzle check pattern again. Repeat this process of cleaning and printing until all lines are completely printed.
Important:
If the print quality has not improved after repeating nozzle check pattern for about four to five times then, wait for at most six hours without printing. Run a nozzle check again and repeat the head cleaning process if required. We recommend to turn off the printer during this process. If the print quality has still not improved, replace the Epson XP-247 ink cartridges. What should I do if the printout problem does not get cleared?
If you have tried all of the possible solutions and even replacing the old Epson XP-247 ink cartridges with the new ones does not solve your problem. Then, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer driver settings. This might resolve the issue. If the problem prevails contact customer care service.
