Q. I want to know whether the printhead in my Dymo labelwriter is working properly or not. So how should I go about with the procedure?
A. To check the working condition of the print head you have to perform a self-test which is as follows:

• If your label writer has a power switch please turn it off
• Make sure to feed the labels before starting the test
• Locate the form feed button, press and hold
• Turn on the printer while you are holding the form feed button
• Take your hands away from the form feed button as soon as the green light appears
• Now the printer is in self test mode and will print labels with a line pattern
• If you want to change the line pattern during the self test you can do it by pressing the form feed button once
• Now press the form feed button again when you want to end the self test

For printer without a power button:

• Ensure the labelwriter is on (the green light is on) and loaded with labels
• Hold the form feed button for about 5 seconds
• While you do this the green light will turn off and then turn on again
• Release the form feed button as soon as the green light reappears
• The labelwriter is now in the self test mode
• To end the operation simply press the form feed button as mentioned above

If the printhead is functioning properly the labels will be printed with different line patterns and if there is a problem with the printhead you will see broken lines or gaps on the label while the self test is on.

Q. Is there any problem if I use metallic or fluorescent inks on the Dymo Labelwriter 310 label tapes?
A. The metallic and fluorescent inks can be used on the areas of the labels where the printer does not print. The Dymo Labelwriter 310 label tapes cannot be used for flood coating purposes.
