Refilling Brother TN241 and TN245

Before beginning the refilling process ensure the correct tools are on hand. The Tool kit is available from the online retailers:

• Toner hole making tool
• Duct tape or hole plug
• Toner bottle
• Funnel cap
• Protective gloves

Cover the surface by covering it with a newspaper or paper sheet to secure the surface from the permanent stains. Plug in the toner hole making tool for 3-4 minutes. Use it to create a refilling hole on the TN241 toner 1 inch right of the chip. Be patient using the hole making tool. Do not force it on the cartridge. The tool is designed to operate safely and securely. Now empty the remaining toner from the old cartridge. Place the funnel cap to the toner bottle and attach on the refilling hole. Fill the empty toner with powder until you see bubbles appear and powder is visible around the hole. Do not forget to cover the refilling hole with duct tape or a hole plug and put the cartridge back in your machine. Repeat this process to refill each Brother TN245 toner cartridge.

Printer continues to display the message "Toner Low" / "Replace Toner" / "Toner Ended" even after installing a new cartridge?

If you have recently replaced your Brother TN241 laser toner or TN245 toner cartridge and the printer still shows the low ink error… 1: The toner is not installed properly

• Turn off the printer and remove the toner cartridge.
• Check no packaging material is on the cartridge. Remove the sealing tape of the toner.
• Reinstall the toner and turn the printer on. The error should be disappeared after this, if not continue with the next step.

2: Clean the corona wire This issue may have occurred because the corona wire has become dirty. While installing the toner be careful that you don't touch the corona wire. An unclean corona wire affects the print quality and sometimes prompt the printer to display low ink or similar errors. To get rid of the errors, you need to take out the toner and clean the corona wire. 3: Update the firmware to the latest version If all the above method does not work then you might need to download the latest version of firmware on your PC and run a scan. You can find the latest version for the firmware on the download section of Brother’s official site. Go to the Firmware Update Tool in the Downloads section, check detail information to identify the firmware version. If the firmware version of your Brother machine is earlier than the latest version, update the firmware. Follow the installation instructions on the download page. After the update reset and restart the printer. Reconnect the printer to the PC and start printing. The error should be resolved by now.
