SECTION 13: Refilling HP 12A Toner Cartridge

HP Q2612A laser toner step-by-step refilling process

1. Move the protective shutter aside and take a spring out.
2. Unscrew 2 screws which are holding the lid of the drum.
3. Take off the lid carefully.
4. Use the awl, hook the charging roller by the metallic axis and take it out.
5. Now, you will see 2 holes inside of the cartridge through which the pin should be pushed out.
6. Use an awl, insert it into the hole and push the pin out.
7. Repeat the same on the other side of the cartridge. Be careful while handling the toner. You need not turn cartridge a lot because it has some toner waste.
8. Use the wire cutter and take the pin out from the outer side of the cartridge.
9. Do the same thing on the other side. The cartridge is now separated two halves.
10. Now take the drum shutter out, unscrew it, shake the wasted toner out and vacuum clean it.
11. Take the other half toner with a magnetic roller. Unscrew the lid on the side without a gear on the magnetic roller. Carefully dangling the lid, take it off.
12. Hold the magnetic roller of HP 12A toner cartridge and pull out the cap that covers the toner reservoir.
13. Carefully take out the toner leftovers.
14. Now fill the toner by holding the magnetic roller up.
15. Install the lid back and screw it carefully.
16. Take the waste toner tank half. Wipe the charging roller and install it back.
17. Next, install the OPC drum. Don’t place the side lid back yet, because it will be inconvenient to install pins back after that.
18. Now put the halves together and insert the pin from the one side and then from the other side.
19. Push them in tightly using a screwdriver. The shutter should close up just fine.
20. Put the lid back and screw it.
21. Place the spring back in the correct position. If it is placed wrongly, it will brush against the drum. Your cartridge is refilled now.

How to replace your HP Q2612A toner cartridge?

Step 1 Prepare the HP Q2612A toner. Remove the cartridge from packaging material. Then gently rock the cartridge side to side for an even distribution of the ink inside the toner. Step 2 Remove the sealing tape of the toner from its side. You need to click-open this tape and pull it out. (keep this tape back in the packaging box for recycling purposes.)
