Dell 1320C Printer Review & Troubleshoot:

The compact Dell 1320C laser is an affordable photo quality device for home and small business owners. It comes with a USB and ethernet functionality, along with a 250 sheet input capacity tray. Unfortunately, this machine doesn't offer WiFi or mobile printing but USB and ethernet options.

The printer's design is quite manageable and handy in comparison to similar options in this price range. It weighs around 13.5kg and occupies relatively less space, at 14.8 X 15.6 X 16.6 (HWD). The Dell laser machine prints around 16ppm for monochrome and 12ppm for coloured output, with separate slots for the compatible Dell 1320C toner cartridges. The high capacity toners can last around 1000 pages each.

The setup is made easy with the help of a CD that covers all the details and print quality is demonstrably vivid for black text, at a 600 dpi print resolution. As for paper media, it supports standard A4 sized prints in plain, coated and recycled paper. Finally, the control panel hosts six self explanatory buttons but without an LED display.

Advantages:

  • Easy installation
  • Handy and occupies less space
  • High print speed
  • USB and ethernet functionality
  • Supports multiple paper media
  • Sharp printed output

Disadvantages:

  • No auto duplexing
  • No multi functionality
  • The printer doesn't support AirPrint, WiFi and mobile printing
  • No LED control panel display
  • No automatic document feeder (ADF)

Cartridge Requirements:

The 1320C laser device can work with the following replacement of Dell 1320C toner cartridges:

  • Dell 593-10258 (DT615) Black toner cartridge
  • Dell 593-10260 (PN124) Yellow toner cartridge
  • Dell 593-10259 (KU051) Cyan toner cartridge
  • Dell 593-10261 (WM138) Magenta toner cartridge
  • Dell 593-10258 Multipack toner Cartridges

Conclusion:

The Dell 1320C is relatively affordable when compared to similar monochrome printers in this price range. It's endowed with advantages such as its handy design, compatibility with replacement Dell 1320C toner cartridges and high resolution prints. However, it's best suited for low volume operations due to its inability to work with WiFi and limited paper handling.

How to get rid of faded or light coloured prints in the Dell 1320C output?

When encountered with faded or light coloured prints during operations, take the following steps to make sure that you get error free prints:

  • Check the printer’s status by clicking the “Status” tab in the printer driver
  • Switch off the “toner saving mode” in the printer driver
  • Review your paper type setting in the printer driver and change it when printing on an uneven paper surface
  • Verify whether the correct print media is installed or not, by checking the “print media sizes and support”
  • Make sure that the eight yellow ribbons are properly removed from the Printer Head Device (PHD)
  • Activate the “Toner Refresh” mode when printing multiple images, by clicking the “tool box” button and press “start” to check the toner density
  • Caution: Toner consumption increases in the Refresh mode

  • If the problem persists, then either the PHD unit or the compatible Dell 1320C toner cartridges are damaged and need to be replaced.

How do I replace the expended Dell 1320C toner cartridges?

Caution: Before proceeding with toner cartridge replacement, make sure that you close the printer’s front cover in order to shield the drum unit from bright light. Exposure to bright light for more than three minutes can cause print quality issues.

Follow these instructions to safely and properly replace the expended 1320C toner cartridges:

  • Open the printer’s side cover
  • Press the cartridge lever(s) backwards to release the toner cartridges which need to be replaced
  • Gently remove the cartridge from its designated slot
  • Caution: Do not shake the used cartridge in order to avoid spillage

  • Shake the new compatible Dell 1320C toner cartridges to evenly distribute the toner
  • Unpack the cartridges and peel off their orange coverings before inserting them into the machine
  • Close the cover and start the printer to get some test prints
