A printhead assembly consists of a printhead and the cartridges fixed in it. If the printhead assembly is damaged or incompatible with the product you might need to replace it. You must follow the steps mentioned below to replace the printhead.

Step 1: Remove the old cartridges.
  • Press on the power button to turn the printer on if it is not done before.
  • Open the cartridge access door. Carriage moves to the right side of the printer, avoid moving it to the left side. Wait until the carriage is idle before you continue the process.
  • Press at the front of the HP Officejet 7510 ink cartridge, and then pull it up towards you to remove it from its slot.
  • Repeat the steps mentioned above for other cartridges.
Step 2: Remove the old printhead.
  • Lift the latch handle on the carriage.
  • Lift the printhead to remove it from the carriage slot.
  • Remove the old printhead.
  • Gently clean the electrical contacts inside the carriage slot.
  • It is important to get the clean electrical contacts inside the printer for successful printhead assembly replacement.
Step 3: Install the new printhead.
  • Unpack the new printhead from its packaging.
  • Avoid touching the copper-coloured electrical contacts.
  • Place it on old printhead’s position.

Step 4: Install the new cartridges.
  • Pull the orange tab to unpack a new cartridge from its plastic wrap.
  • Rotate the orange cap counterclockwise until it breaks off the new cartridge.
  • With the nozzles and electrical contacts facing down, slightly slide the cartridge into the slot.
  • Press down at the top of the cartridge until it fixes into the place.
  • Repeat the steps for installing other cartridges. Make sure that the colour icon on cartridge label matches with the colour icon on carriage slot.
  • Close the HP Officejet 7510 ink cartridges access door once the process is completed.
