Brother HL1110 Printer Review & Troubleshoot:

Value for money does not get better. Laser printers are usually thought to be an expensive affair, but Brother HL1110 is one of the most economical printers you can buy. This low-cost end of laser printer market is a highly competitive place to be, but Brother HL 1110 still shines through.

If compactness and design were major purchase criteria, this will be a great option. With a footprint just above A4 size and an enclosed design, it looks good on any student's desk or home shelf. Its gives a book printing and double side printing option too, though it is manual, but will serve well for those lengthy student projects. Talking about lengthy, the Brother HL1110 toner cartridges last for about 1000 pages. Given the fact that this printer will be mostly bought for home and educational usage, this seems to be a good toner life.

With a print resolution of 600 dpi and print speed up to 20 ppm, Brother HL1110 will serve most homes and students well. The print quality is average though, with slight edges getting cut in the larger prints. But compared to other similarly priced units, the quality is pretty much at par and better in some places. The Brother HL1110 toner cartridges give a high per page cost, which can be resolved with compatible cartridges.

Advantages
  • Value for money pricing
  • Good printing speeds
  • Manual duplexer
  • Small footprints
  • Comprehensive driver software
Disadvantages
  • Generates noise during operation
  • Toner has a low life of 1000 prints
  • LEDs are the only indicators
Conclusion

HL 1110 is a compact and value for money unit. It might be a bit noisy and with an average print quality, but gives its target buyers, it works well. The print speeds and an extremely robust printer driver are two big positives in its favour.

A. The Brother HL1110 toner cartridges have a print life that guarantees a high print quality until a certain amount of toner consumption is reached. As soon as the toner reaches that particular level at which the print quality cannot be guaranteed, the machine reacts with LED flashes to replace the toner. Toner continue mode is an option that allows continuing printing even when the Brother HL1110 toner cartridge gets low.

Q. Why the top cover of Brother HL1110 becomes hot whenever I operate it?
A. This is a common thing seen in laser printers - the laser technology uses heat to print and the equipment that provides the necessary heat is located right beneath the top cover. So when you perform printing it is normal for the machine top cover to get hot. Nevertheless, please ensure not to place any object on the top cover of the machine.

Q. Why does the machine emit steam and moisture through the vents while printing?
A. The paper used for printing contains varied amount of moisture. It also depends on how the paper is stored. When this paper is used for printing, moist air is emitted as the paper gets heated up. And it starts emitting water vapour or steam as and when it encounters cooler air. As The vapour or steam immediately get dissipated and this is a normal condition commonly seen with printers. If you would like to avoid or minimise such occurrence, please ensure that you place the machine in a well-aerated room. Also, make sure the papers are stored in a less humid environment.

Q. Why don't you have a Brother HL1110 toner cartridge for colour printing?
A. The Brother HL1110 is a monochrome machine that prints only in black and that is why colour toner cartridges are not available for the machine.
