When your printer can’t pick the paper or feed the paper into the tray, error messages like “out of paper” or “pick the motor stalled” displays in the printer control panel. You can solve the problem by following these instructions:
Step 1: Printer test.
- Turn on your printer and before you proceed, make sure that the printer is idle.
- Unplug one end of power cord from rear end of the printer and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord, restart your printer and try to print.
Step 2: Replace HP OfficeJet Pro 6964 ink cartridges.
- Make sure that you use good quality ink cartridges for your HP printer.
- In case, you find the ink cartridges expired or dried, purchase new ink cartridges and replace the old ones.
Step 3: Reloading the HP OfficeJet printer paper.
- Hold and grasp the input tray, pull the tray towards you. Slide the paper width guide and take out all the paper from the paper tray.
- Place a stack of Unused A4 size paper. Make sure that the paper height does not cross the solid red lines of the tray’s side.
- If your printer has increased input tray for longer paper, then set paper length guide. So that the paper remains secure toward the end of the tray.
- Slowly insert the tray back into the printer and push the tray closer to the printer.
- At last, pull out the tray extender of the output tray.
Step 4: Remove the duplexer rollers and check for jamming or torn pieces of paper by using a flashlight. If you find any, remove them.
