Q. I have an Epson XP 315 printer for my workplace at home. It has had a great print quality but lately the printouts have smeared colors along the edges. Is it caused by Epson XP 315 ink cartridges that I am using? How can I prevent this problem in the future?
A. Smeared colors on the printout are not caused by Epson XP 315 ink cartridges. This is caused due to paper jams. To solve your problem you can clear off the paper jam. Paper jams can be prevented in future. Check the papers before you load them. They should not be moist, curled or wrinkled. Always use a paper of high quality. Cheaper options may cause paper jams. Load the paper properly. The printable side should be facing up in the feeder tray. Do not load the papers beyond the arrow mark on the edge of the tray. Follow the edge guides. For the paper to feed into the printer properly, you need to keep the printer on a flat surface.

A. First step is to check that the paper is loaded correctly. If not, then align it properly. Now you should check the margin settings in the Applications. You can change the settings as per you requirements. You are also required to check the Printer Driver Settings. These should be according to the paper size that you are using for print. If you experience the same problem then uninstall the driver and reinstall it again.

A. The printer shows ink error soon after replacing the old ink cartridges because the ink cartridges might not have been installed properly. When you purchase new Epson XP 315 ink cartridges, make sure to follow the correct procedure when replacing the old ones. When you have already installed the new cartridges, open the printer cover. If the cartridge holder is not in the centre then press OK button on the printer. Do not move the ink cartridge holder forcibly by hand. Doing so may damage your printer. Let the printer be silent before you do anything else. Now lift up the lock lever and remove the ink cartridge. Lift it out gently. Place the ink cartridge carefully and in the correct position back into the slot. Press it till it clicks in place. Repeat this process with the other ink cartridges.
