How to install Epson XP 315 ink cartridges for the first time?

If you have recently bought an Epson XP 315 printer and don’t know how to install the ink cartridges, then follow the simple steps provided below:

Step 1:

Make the printer ready for cartridge installation. Lower down the paper feed and open the top cover (including the flatbed scanner). While you are doing it make sure your printer is connected with power cable. If the printer is not connected to the main socket, connect it and turn it on.

Step 2:

Once you turn on the printer, the printheads will automatically move to the replacement position. If the printheads do not move automatically then press the red coloured Ink Button next to the power button.

Step 3:

Lift up the cartridge clamp (cartridge cover) situated at the right hand side of the printer.

Step 4:

Now gently shake the new Epson XP 315 ink cartridges four to five times and then unpack the cartridges. Make sure you do not touch the green chip on the cartridges, otherwise the printer won’t be able to read the new cartridges.

Step 5:

Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the Epson XP 315 ink cartridges (this is very important to remove this tape, before installing the cartridges in the printer). However, do not remove the transparent seal from the bottom of the cartridges or the label on the cartridges. This can make the cartridges unusable or result in an ink leak.

Step 6:

Once you remove the packaging material properly, place them into the cartridge slot of the printer. Make sure to keep the bottom of the cartridges downwards and then push them in until you hear a ‘click’ sound. This will make sure the cartridges are placed properly and are locked. Repeat these steps for each cartridge individually.

Close the cartridge cover and put down the top cover of the printer, and press the ink or start button. The printer would take almost 3 to 4 minutes to warm up the cartridges. Once the power light of the printer stops blinking you can start your work with the printer.

A. Smeared colors on the printout are not caused by Epson XP 315 ink cartridges. This is caused due to paper jams. To solve your problem you can clear off the paper jam. If you experience the same problem then uninstall the driver and reinstall it again.

Open the Printer Software on your system and in the Maintenance tab, click on the Extended Settings. You will be able to check the Skip Blank Page setting this way.

Q. I have just replaced the old Epson XP 315 ink cartridges with new ones. But the printer shows ink error. How can I solve this problem?
A. The printer shows ink error soon after replacing the old ink cartridges because the ink cartridges might not have been installed properly. When you purchase new Epson XP 315 ink cartridges, make sure to follow the correct procedure when replacing the old ones. When you have already installed the new cartridges, open the printer cover. Let the printer be silent before you do anything else. Now lift up the lock lever and remove the ink cartridge. Lift it out gently. Place the ink cartridge carefully and in the correct position back into the slot. Press it till it clicks in place. Repeat this process with the other ink cartridges.
