How to resolve “cartridge missing” or “ink cartridge problem” error message for HP Envy 5542 e-All-in-One printer?
Even if you install an HP Envy 5542 e-All-in-One ink cartridges, the printer is unable to print and displays an error message. Check for the following solutions to resolve the error message:
- The HP Envy 5542 e-All-in-One ink cartridges you have installed must be compatible with your HP printer. If the cartridges are incompatible with your printer, replace them.
- In case, if the ink cartridges are not installed properly, and an error message is displayed. Try reinstalling the cartridges.
- Turn on your printer.
- Open the ink cartridge access door, place two fingers under one or both the small handles on the side of the cartridge access door and lift it up.
- Gently press down one of the ink cartridges, release it and pull the ink cartridge out of its slot, towards you.
- Any protective tape on the ink cartridge nozzles should be removed. But, do not touch the copper-colored electrical strip.
- By sliding the ink cartridge into the empty slot, reinsert it and gently push it up until it fits into the place.
- Close the cartridge access door. If the issue still exists, you need to continue to the next step.
- The electrical contacts between the ink cartridges should be cleaned properly else the printer might not recognize the ink cartridges.
- If the error message still displays, remove and reinsert the HP Envy 5542 e-All-in-One ink cartridges using previous steps and clean the cartridge contacts again.
- Reset your printer and before proceeding, wait until the printer is silent & idle.
- Check the ink cartridge warranty.
- At last, replace your cartridge or service your printer to resolve the issue.
