I just replaced the Brother HL1112 toner cartridge and the LCD display a message ‘Replace Toner’. The Toner LED also keeps on flashing. How can I fix this problem?

If the machine's display or LED continues to show the error indication after installing a new toner cartridge, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

Step 1: Check that you do not replace the incorrect consumable.
The printer uses two separate consumables to perform the printing function - the toner cartridge and the drum unit. Check that you replace the toner cartridge and not the drum unit of the printer.

Step 2: Verify that you are using a new Brother HL1112 toner cartridge.
While replacing the toner cartridge, you must install a new or unused toner cartridge in order to reset the toner status. Swapping the toner cartridge from one printer to another or installing a partially used toner cartridge may cause a print problem. Brother printers adjust their image quality for the best possible print results by monitoring toner consumption. If you install a partially used toner cartridge, your printer is unable to recognize the correct toner consumption which will cause this problem.

Step 3: Verify the toner cartridge is installed correctly.
Though you install a new Brother toner cartridge, the "Replace Toner" error indication message remains as it is in case the toner cartridge may not be installed correctly. Reinstall the Brother HL1112 toner cartridge as per the instructions listed for how to replace the toner cartridge.   • Clean the corona wire.
    This issue might have occurred because of a dirty corona wire. Try cleaning it.
  • Update the firmware to the latest version.
    Go to the downloads section of the Brother website to check the latest version of the firmware.
    • If you see the firmware update tool in the downloads section, check the detailed information to identify the firmware version. If the firmware version of your printer is old, you need to update the firmware. Follow the installation instructions given in the downloads section of the brother website.
