Canon Pixma MX535 Printer Review & Troubleshoot:

A budget inkjet all in one, the Pixma MX535 tries to do it all-in-one single machine. Coming in at a modest price, it crams nearly all the features that any small office or home user would expect in his all in one.

The printer in this device comes with a maximum possible resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi, with a print speed of 9.7 ppm in monochrome and 5.5 ppm in colour. Photos of 10 x 15 cm take approximately 46 seconds to print. The 2 Canon Pixma MX535 Ink Cartridges come in black and colour. The scanner has a resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi, with an A4 sheet taking up to 15 seconds to get scanned. The print quality is good though not up to what we expect from a Canon. Scanning results and photocopying quality are good, though an occasional banding can be seen in photocopies.

The Pixma MX535 has a host of connectivity options including USB, WiFI, Bluetooth. Google cloud and apple AirPlay are also supported making printing from mobiles easy. There is a 100 sheet input tray and an extra 30 sheet ADF, with automatic duplexing available. The Input tray is oddly placed and ends up increasing the printer’s footprint when it is being used. The 2 Canon Pixma MX535 Ink Cartridges mean that the colour cartridge is to be replaced even if only one colour from the three has exhausted. This makes printing a slightly expensive affair.

While the modern connectivity options of Bluetooth and wireless are available, ethernet has been omitted from the list, which can hinder large offices with LAN connectivity and non-wireless computers. The control panel in the front of this unit has a list of features along with a 2 line 16 character mono LCD display.

Advantages:
  • Automatic duplexing
  • Print resolution of 4,800dpi
  • 30-sheet Automatic document feeder
  • Direct printing from smartphones
  • Handy access point for direct print from mobile without any computer connection
Disadvantages:
  • Large footprint when it is opened and running
  • Highly noisy operations
  • USB port does not allow direct printing
Conclusion

Canon Pixma MX535 tries to pack a lot of features in a small package at a very lucrative cost. It does pack auto duplexing, ADF, lots of connectivity options, good image editing software and more. The areas it loses out on are ethernet, noisy operation and a large footprint when printing. If one can live with these, it presents a value for money alternative with good performance and high-quality output.
