Q. What does “Non-Genuine” CLI-571Y Ink Cartridge message mean?A. On occasion, this kind of message will pop up on your screen, telling you that you’re using a refilled, used, or counterfeit* cartridge, but usually won’t do much else beyond that. Third-party or compatible cartridges usually have chips installed that circumvent this message, but when it pops up on the screen, you can easily diffuse it by clicking “okay.” If not, you can consider removing your cartridge and ensuring the chip is clean, then reinstall and try again to work.
Q. Is there a strategy to keep my printer canon 571 Ink Cartridge from drying out in between uses?A. Follow the steps below to prevent your ink cartridge from drying:
- Print a test page every 10 - 15 days since this prevents it from drying in the micro channels of the the cartridges themselves.
- Plug your printer into a wall outlet and not into a power bar. The carrier would move into the replacement position from where the cartridges can be removed. Remove the cartridges followed by pulling the power cord OFF the wall. This is going to “FREEZE” the carrier in its position. Cover each cartridge with its own cap and then place the capped cartridge back into a container. Along with these capped cartridges, place a tiny container with a wet sponge in it just next to the cartridges. Seal the container and place it on a desk which is stable. This wet sponge will create humidity inside the container and that will prevent the ink from drying fast. When you need to print a document/paper, firstly place the cartridges in their carrier and then plug the power cord back in the wall. This will enable your printer to execute the printing.
